Detailed Description
A waterproof triangle sail for corners, angles and layered shade. The Jib is a triangular shade sail in thick 420D polyester Oxford with a PU coating: waterproof, tested to over 2,000 mm, UV-resistant, with stainless steel D-rings on double-layer corner webbing. It comes in 8 colours and 12 sizes, from 2 x 2 x 2 m to 6 x 6 x 6 m, including right-angle sizes made to fit neatly into a corner.
Measure the three distances between your anchor points, and allow at least 45 cm at each corner for tensioning. A triangle shades less than a rectangle with similar side lengths: the 4.5 x 4.5 x 4.5 m sail covers about 8.8 m². Sizes are measured ring to ring and the edges are curved, so the shaded area is slightly smaller than the nominal size. The size guide in the photos lists every size with its approximate sail area and the anchor spacing it needs.
Pad eyes, turnbuckles and snap hooks are sold separately. For a taut finish on walls or posts, add our Shade Sail Fixing Kit in 304 stainless steel: a pad eye, turnbuckle and snap hook for each of the 3 corners, plus a spare set. Where to fix it, how to tension it and how to care for it: see "Installation and Maintenance" below.

Installation and Maintenance
Before you order, choose solid anchor points: steel posts set in concrete, a solid brick or block wall, a roof bracket screwed into a rafter, or a mature, healthy tree. Never fix to fascia boards, gutters, roof sheeting, fences or light poles: a tensioned sail pulls hard, especially in wind.
Measure the distance between your anchor points, not the area you want to shade. Allow at least 45 cm between each sail corner and its anchor point, so there's room to tension the fabric.
Fix a pad eye at each anchor point (fixing hardware is sold separately). Connect the corners with turnbuckles or snap hooks, or use the included PE ropes on existing solid points. Hang the sail on a slope, with the corners at different heights (about 1 m of drop for every 4 m of sail), so rain runs off instead of pooling. Tighten evenly until the fabric is taut, with no flat area in the middle, and re-check the tension after the first week.
Shade sails are not windproof. Unclip the sail when strong or gusty wind, storms or heavy rain are forecast, and when you're away for a few days.
To clean it, hose it down and use a soft brush or damp cloth with mild soapy water. Avoid pressure washers and harsh chemicals, which can damage the coating. Let it dry completely before folding it. Over winter, take it down and store it clean, dry and under cover.
Delivery and Warranty
Delivery
Delivery is free Australia-wide. Each order is dispatched within 24 to 48 hours (excluding weekends and public holidays), then takes 6 to 10 business days to arrive, depending on your location. Expect your order within 7 to 12 business days in total, with a tracking link sent by email as soon as it ships.
Returns
You have 14 days from delivery to return your order if it isn't right for your space. Items must be unused and in their original packaging. See our Return and Refund Policy for details.
Warranty
Every product is covered by our 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use, such as faulty stitching, corner fasteners or fabric. Damage caused by storms, strong wind, incorrect installation or unsuitable anchor points isn't covered, which is why we recommend unclipping your sail when strong wind is forecast.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

SUN AND RAIN, ON YOUR TERMS
Waterproof 420D Oxford
Thick 420D polyester Oxford with a PU coating, tested to over 2,000 mm, UV-resistant, with double-stitched hems and seams and stainless steel D-rings on double-layer corner webbing. Hang it with one corner higher than the other so rain runs straight off. A waterproof sail catches the wind: unclip it when strong wind is forecast or when you're away for a few days.
SUN AND RAIN
Waterproof Shade for Sun and Showers
Thick 420D Oxford with a PU coating keeps the rain off as well as the sun. Hang it on a slope and the water runs off the low corner instead of pooling in the middle.
WHERE IT WORKS
Corners, Angles and Layered Shade
Right-angle sizes slot into the corner between two walls, and overlapping triangles at different heights cover larger, irregular spaces. Mix two colours for a designed look.
FITS YOUR SPACE
Shade That Follows the Shape of Your Yard, Not the Other Way Around
Corners, driveways, pool edges, odd angles, our sails are cut to cover the space you actually have, without a centre pole getting in the way.
BUILT FOR OUTDOORS
420D Oxford, Stainless Steel, Covered for 2 Years
Thick 420D polyester Oxford, UV-resistant and PU-coated, with double-stitched hems and seams, double-layer corner webbing and a stainless steel D-ring at every corner. Every sail is backed by our 2-year warranty.
How to Install your Shade Sail
STEP 1
Choose solid anchor points, then measure between them
Pick 3 solid anchor points: steel posts set in concrete, a solid brick or block wall, a roof bracket screwed into a rafter, or a mature, healthy tree. Never fix to fascia boards, gutters, fences or light poles: a tensioned sail pulls hard, especially in wind.
Then measure the three distances between your anchor points. Choose a sail at least 45 cm shorter than each distance at every corner, so you have room to tension it. Plan one corner higher than the other two, with about 1 m of drop for every 4 m of sail, so rain runs off instead of pooling.
STEP 2
Fix the corners and tension the sail
Fix a pad eye at each anchor point. Connect the corners with the turnbuckles from the kit to tension the sail, and use a snap hook or the included rope where you want quick removal. Tighten evenly until the fabric is taut, with no flat area in the middle.
Re-check the tension after the first week, as the fabric settles. Once tensioned, final dimensions can vary slightly due to fabric stretch: this is normal.
STEP 3
Know when to take it down
Unclip the sail when strong wind, storms or heavy rain are forecast, and when you're away for a few days. Over winter, store it clean and fully dry.
Large sail or no solid anchor points? A local shade installer or handyman can fit posts for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's included, and do I need the fixing kit?
You receive the shade sail, with a stainless steel D-ring on reinforced webbing at every corner. Pad eyes, turnbuckles and snap hooks aren't included: add our 304 stainless steel fixing kit (one kit covers every corner) for a taut finish on walls or posts, or use your own hardware on existing solid anchor points.
What size should I buy?
Measure the distance between your anchor points, not the area you want to shade. Then choose a sail at least 45 cm shorter than that distance at every corner, so there's room to tension it. The size guide in the product photos lists every size with its sail area and the anchor spacing it needs. Sizes are measured ring to ring and the edges are curved, so the shaded area is slightly smaller than the nominal size.
Is it really waterproof?
Yes. The 420D Oxford fabric has a PU coating tested to over 2,000 mm of water column, so rain runs off rather than soaking through. The sail must be hung on a slope (about 1 m of drop for every 4 m of sail): hung flat, any waterproof sail will collect water, which stretches the fabric and loads the anchor points. Panels are joined with double-stitched seams; in very heavy rain, a little water can come through at a seam.
Which colour should I choose?
Charcoal and Sand are among the most popular choices in Australia: they suit most homes and hide marks well. Light Grey and White keep the space bright and reflect more heat. Forest Green blends into gardens, Ocean Blue suits pools and play areas, Terracotta warms up brick and timber, and Sunflower is a favourite for kids' spaces. Darker colours cut more glare; lighter colours reflect more heat.
Will it get hot underneath?
A waterproof sail doesn't let warm air escape through the fabric, so hang it high (ideally 2.4 m or more at the low corners) and keep the sides open so air can move underneath. Lighter colours reflect more of the sun's heat; darker colours cut more glare.
Can I attach it to my house, fence or a tree?
Only to solid points: a brick or block wall (with masonry anchors), a roof bracket fixed into a rafter, a steel post set in concrete, or a mature, healthy tree. Fascia boards, gutters, roof sheeting, fences and light poles aren't built for the pull of a tensioned sail and can be damaged in wind. Not sure? Email us a photo of your space.
Will it hold up in the wind?
A waterproof sail catches more wind than shade mesh, because air can't pass through it. Fixed to solid anchor points and properly tensioned, it's made for everyday outdoor use. Unclip it when strong or gusty wind is forecast, and when you're away for a few days. With snap hooks on the corners, it only takes a few minutes.
Should I choose a triangle or a rectangle?
A triangle fits corners and irregular spaces and only needs three anchor points. Our right-angle sizes slot neatly into the corner between two walls. A rectangle covers more area for the same side length and suits long, straight spaces like a dining area or a driveway. For a large or awkward area, two overlapping triangles at different heights work well.
Can I hang it without drilling?
Yes, if you already have solid anchor points: a mature tree, an existing post or existing eye bolts. Avoid fences and light poles. For walls, you'll need to fix pad eyes.
Can I leave it up all year?
We recommend taking it down over winter and before storms. Hose it off, let it dry completely, fold it and store it somewhere dry. It will last longer.
How do I clean it?
Hose it down and use a soft brush with mild soapy water. Avoid pressure washers and harsh chemicals, which can damage the coating. Let it dry completely before folding it away, to keep mould at bay.
Do I need council approval?
It depends on your council and on the sail's size, height and position. Small sails behind the front of the house are often exempt (in NSW, for example, up to 20 m² and 3 m high), but rules vary between states and councils. Check with your local council before installing, especially for sails over 20 m² or anything in front of your home.
What's the warranty, and can I return it?
Every sail is covered by our 2-year warranty. If it isn't right for your space, you can return it within 14 days of delivery. See our Refund Policy for the details.
