LED Umbrellas

A standard outdoor umbrella closes when the sun goes down. An LED umbrella keeps the outdoor space usable — and comfortable — after dark. Integrated LED lighting built into the canopy frame or ribs converts your alfresco area from a daytime shade structure into a lit outdoor room, without extension cords, without separate lighting fixtures to set up and pack away, and without interrupting the clean lines of the canopy above.

The LED systems in this collection are solar-powered, with a panel that charges during daylight hours and powers the integrated lighting after dark. Solar power removes the need for a permanent mains power connection and allows the lighting to operate independently of the household electrical system.

The solar panel mounted on the mast or canopy frame charges during daylight hours. On a full day of direct sun, the panel accumulates enough charge to power the LEDs for several hours after dark — sufficient to cover a typical evening outdoor session. Performance will vary with cloud cover, panel orientation, and the season; in southern Australian winters with shorter days and lower sun angles, charge times extend and operating time may reduce accordingly.

The LEDs activate automatically at dusk in most configurations, eliminating the need to remember to switch them on. The light output is designed for ambient atmosphere rather than task lighting — it creates a warm, usable glow across the seating area beneath the canopy, not a floodlit working environment. For outdoor dining and entertaining, that's the appropriate light level: enough to see clearly, warm enough to maintain the character of an evening outdoor setting.

The solar system is fully self-contained and weather-resistant. No additional waterproofing treatment is required for the panel or the LED components — they're designed for permanent outdoor installation across the full Australian seasonal range.
