The Volet is a different proposition from the motorised awnings in the Shadelys range: a simpler, more versatile shade structure that installs at any height between 200cm and 300cm from the ground, extends to a maximum projection of 120cm, and operates via a 125cm hand crank that can be fitted on either the left or the right depending on the layout of your space. It works as a terrace awning in the conventional sense, and it works equally well mounted directly above a window to block direct sunlight or provide complete window coverage when required.
The steel frame is built for durability, providing a rigid structure for a canopy this scale across a range of installation heights. The 100% polyester canopy with PU coating is water and dirt repellent — the fabric repels both moisture and surface grime rather than simply resisting water alone. High lightfastness across the canopy fabric means the anthracite tone holds its depth through sustained UV exposure without fading. And unlike the fixed canopies of most retractable awnings, the Volet's canopy is fully removable and machine washable, making end-of-season maintenance straightforward rather than a task to defer.
The crank handle extends to 125cm, long enough to reach the awning comfortably from standing height without needing to stretch or use a step. Left or right installation is your choice at the point of assembly, with no separate parts or adaptor required.
The Volet is available in multiple widths to suit different installation spans, with two frame finishes: white frame for lighter exterior palettes and anthracite frame for contemporary or dark-toned settings. Regardless of width, the maximum projection is 120cm and the installation height adjusts between 200cm and 300cm from the ground, accommodating most standard window and fascia heights without modification.
The canopy angle is adjustable, allowing you to increase the pitch for better weather protection or reduce it to maximise the depth of shade across the area below. The support bar at 16mm diameter provides the structural integrity to hold the canopy flat and taut at full extension without flex or movement at the outer edge.

Does the umbrella come with a base?
The umbrella includes a 100 x 100 cm aluminium cross base. The cross base is not a complete weighted base: a compatible ballast or anchoring system is required and sold separately.
The Holdfast Base Weight Kit is designed for compatible cross bases and provides up to approximately 100 kg of added ballast when fully filled with dry sand. Always follow the installation instructions and close the canopy during strong or gusty winds and whenever the umbrella is left unattended.
Can the umbrella be used in windy conditions?
The upper vent allows some air to pass through the canopy, but the umbrella is not windproof and no tested wind-speed rating is stated for this product.

How should I care for the canopy?
The polyester canopy with PA coating can be cleaned using a soft cloth, mild soap and water. Prolonged exposure to sunlight and outdoor conditions can gradually affect any fabric colour, so closing and covering the umbrella when it is not in use can help preserve its appearance. Allow the canopy to dry fully before folding or storing it.
What size table can the umbrella cover?
Shade coverage depends on the canopy diameter of the specific model — refer to the product dimensions listed above. As the pole is positioned to the side, the entire area beneath the canopy remains free from a central mast, allowing flexible furniture placement below. The circular canopy profile centres naturally above round outdoor dining tables and poolside lounge settings.
Actual shade coverage varies depending on sun angle and umbrella position throughout the day. Where fitted, the tilt function allows you to adjust the canopy angle to maintain effective coverage as the sun moves.
How do I choose the right canopy colour?

How to Install Your Retractable Awning
STEP 1
Check your wall and plan your bracket position
Before purchasing or assembling, confirm that your chosen installation surface is solid masonry, structural timber or steel capable of bearing the weight of the awning and the load applied by wind on the extended canopy. Lightweight cladding, hollow-core walls, guttering and non-structural fascia are not suitable mounting surfaces.
Mark the bracket positions on the wall at the correct height for your installation. Most models allow height adjustment after mounting, but the bracket fixing point determines the usable range. Ensure the surface is smooth and flat at the fixing points for correct bracket contact and load distribution. Wall mounting hardware is not included with the awning and must be sourced separately based on your wall type.
STEP 2
Mount the bracket and assemble the awning
Fix the mounting brackets securely to the wall at the marked positions using fasteners rated for the wall material and load. Once the brackets are in place, attach the awning frame to the brackets following the supplied assembly instructions. Extend the awning fully using the crank or chain mechanism to check that the canopy opens evenly and that the frame arms extend without obstruction.
Adjust the canopy angle and installation height to suit your outdoor space and the sun angle you want to block. Retract the awning fully after installation to confirm the mechanism retracts cleanly and the canopy folds without bunching. If in doubt about your wall type or load capacity, consult a qualified installer or builder before proceeding.
