Where a rectangular cantilever defines space with geometry, the Gregal simply fills it.

The metal mast rises at an angle from the 100 x 100 cm cross base, keeping the area beneath the canopy clear. Eight steel ribs support the round canopy across its full span. An air vent at the crown allows some air and heat to pass through the canopy.

The crank mechanism opens and closes the canopy smoothly, and the canopy tilts to track the sun as it drops toward the horizon — the adjustment that matters most in the late afternoon when low-angle western light cuts beneath a fixed canopy and undoes the shade.
